Occupational Health and Safety Management System

Since 2022, LX Semicon has obtained and maintained ISO 45001 certification for all business sites, thereby strengthening company-wide occupational health and safety management. ISO 45001 serves as the foundational standard for assessing potential risks at each workplace, preventing safety and health incidents, and continuously improving the working environment. Based on this framework, LX Semicon has established and disclosed its company-wide occupational health and safety management policy, which is applied not only to employees but also to non-employee workers such as subcontractors and dispatched personnel within its workplaces.

Mid-to-Long-Term Occupational Health and Safety Goals

LX Semicon has established a three-year mid-to-long-term occupational health and safety management goal to prevent serious industrial accidents and to create a safe working environment. The company is promoting field-oriented and actionable preventive activities. The key goals are structured around five areas: improving the implementation rate of risk assessment corrective actions, increasing the execution rate of emergency drills against the plan, enhancing participation in occupational health and safety activities, strengthening inspection and training for high-risk facilities, and advancing both the health checkup rate and the follow-up management system for employees with abnormal findings. The company regularly checks the annual implementation status and continuously improves performance. Through this, LX Semicon aims to strengthen company-wide occupational health and safety capabilities and establish a proactive, risk-reducing management system.

Promoting Safety and Health Culture

Operation of the Safety and Health Bulletin Board

LX Semicon operates an in-house Safety and Health Bulletin Board to enhance employees’ awareness of occupational safety and health and to maintain a structured management system. Through this platform, the company shares its safety and health policies and management status with employees, thereby reinforcing a culture of safety. Additionally, the bulletin board includes a Voice of Employee (VOE) section for submitting safety and health improvement requests. Submitted feedback is reviewed and processed through a response system that identifies and addresses workplace hazards specific to each site.

Participatory Safety Awareness Campaigns

To foster a safety-oriented workplace culture and strengthen employees' safety awareness, LX Semicon conducts participatory awareness improvement campaigns. These efforts encourage employees to naturally engage in safety and health activities as part of their daily routines, thereby contributing to the development of a safer and more proactive work environment.

Supporting Employee Health Management

LX Semicon actively identifies and implements various health care programs to promote employee well-being and ensure a safe working environment. All employees are supported with general medical checkups, and those who have served for over five years or are over the age of 35 are offered comprehensive health checkups for more systematic care. In addition, themed health care programs, such as smoking cessation and diet management, are conducted, and on-campus health care rooms and fitness centers are provided to help employees maintain a healthy lifestyle. Moreover, the company operates a “Safety Participation Box” in rest areas, enabling employees to easily submit suggestions for safety and health improvements, thereby contributing to the practical enhancement of workplace conditions.

Identification of Safety and Health Risks

LX Semicon conducts an annual safety and health risk assessment to proactively identify and effectively manage potential safety and health risks. Through this assessment, comprehensive inspections are carried out across business sites and laboratories, and identified improvement items are incorporated to help establish a safe working environment. Assessment items include facility safety, industrial accident prevention, employee health checkups, and hazardous substance management (including materials used at business sites and laboratories). Through systematic inspections and continuous improvements, LX Semicon strives to minimize safety and health risks.

Workplace Risk Assessment

LX Semicon conducts risk assessments to systematically manage safety and health risks at each workplace, measuring the level of risk by site and strengthening preventive actions accordingly. Risk assessments are carried out under three categories: regular assessments (once a year), occasional assessments (as needed), and initial assessments (when introducing new tasks, facilities, or equipment). The process involves identifying risk factors across six categories, evaluating them, and then eliminating or improving any confirmed hazards. Through this approach, LX Semicon continuously enhances safety standards within its workplaces.

Lab Safety Management

Precision Safety Diagnosis

LX Semicon conducts regular precision safety diagnoses in laboratories to strengthen internal safety management. Risk factors are identified based on the existing risk class definitions, and immediate corrective actions are taken for any issues found. In particular, when serious risks are found, follow-up diagnostics are implemented and a management system is operated to ensure corrective actions are completed within 3 months.

Laboratory Precision Safety Diagnosis Classification
Ranking Measurement Standard
1 There are no issues with the lab in terms of safety environment and maintenance
2 Some flaws have been found in the lab’s safety environment and research facilities and improvement needs to be made, but they do not significantly affect safety
3 Safety violations are identified, and the work environment needs to be improved
4 Serious safety violations are identified in research environment or facilities and therefore, they should be restricted
5 The work environment or facilities should be shut down immediately due to a high risk of accidents and serious safety violation
Risk Assessment for Lab Works

LX Semicon conducts risk assessments for harmful factors once every half year to protect the health of employees and to create a safe working environment. Through this process, the company identifies the exposure levels and occurrence rates of hazardous substances that may negatively impact workers and conducts thorough analyses of actual conditions. The assessments are carried out by collecting, analyzing, and evaluating personal samples in accordance with a pre-established measurement plan.

Safety Incident Investigation

LX Semicon conducts thorough investigations into all incidents that occur, analyzes their root causes, and takes corrective actions accordingly. The company prioritizes prompt response in the event of an incident to prevent recurrence and to maintain a safe working environment. In the case of serious accidents, a dedicated incident investigation team is formed to carry out in-depth investigations, clearly identify the cause of the incident, and establish countermeasures that are implemented company-wide to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Safety Incident Investigation Process
  • Make emergency notice for incidents and preserve incident scene

  • Collect field data related to incidents

  • Interview the victim about the incident and incident details

  • Identify incident root causes based on witness interviews

  • Review other related resources and documents

  • Prepare accident investigation reports, and report to Safety and Environment Committee/Risk Management Committee

Partner Company Occupational Safety and Health Management

LX Semicon aims for “Zero” safety incidents and has established occupational safety and health management standards for its partner companies. Through systematic operations, the company is enhancing its oversight of partners’ safety practices. To this end, LX Semicon operates a monthly occupational safety and health council with partner companies and conducts regular and ad hoc joint inspections at worksites to proactively prevent practical safety risks. In addition, LX Semicon provides safety manuals and management plans to help partners strengthen their own safety management systems. Ongoing monitoring and feedback are conducted to foster a safe working environment in collaboration with partner companies.

To promote co-prosperity with its partners, LX Semicon regularly conducts occupational safety and health qualification assessments of partner companies to prevent industrial accidents and build safe workplaces. These assessments target both in-house and external contractors performing construction or service tasks. Based on the evaluation results, the company identifies potential risks in advance and supports improvement measures as follow-up actions. For partner companies scoring below 80 points, improvement is requested and relevant documentation is required after corrective action to confirm actual progress. If a partner scores below 70 points and such a result occurs more than once, a warning letter is issued, and additional enhanced management measures are taken. LX Semicon also provides guidance to help partners establish autonomous safety and health systems, including the development of occupational safety and health management systems, risk assessment procedures, and safe work procedures. The company supports the institutionalization and practical implementation of these systems.

Safety Incident Investigation Process

LX Semicon assesses its suppliers based on 12 key items included in the occupational health and safety evaluation checklist. For each item, specific evaluation questions are established to effectively assess and verify the actual level of safety management.
